It was a very interesting recent series of shoots for Oregon Business. The story covers the aviation industry in Central Oregon. I was given the opportunity to tour and shoot the facilities of Lancair in Redmond, Cessna (formerly Columbia Air) , and Epic – both in Bend. I had some previous exposure to Columbia Air through a website project a few years back but had little concept of what they were really accomplishing. Much similarity between the three companies with some key differences in production and more in philosophy.
Lancair: Redmond, Oregon
Very friendly and accommodating at Lancair. Great tour, tons of information about the company history and kit plane manufacturing and assembly process.

Cessna: Bend, Oregon
The fact that this is a company in transition is painfully obvious here. Cessna brass was not at all comfortable having a photographer in the building. I had to tread lightly…

Epic: Bend, Oregon
Classy company, sweet planes! I was fascinated by their descriptions of capturing aerial shots. Sign me up guys! And I must add they shoot all their beauty shots on the Canon Mark II. Of course.
